The PCP MOT for your change journey

At People Change Projects we are striving to deliver successful outcomes with our clients, using change management solutions that always enhance business adoption rates and overall sustainability. We do this effectively in bringing people along on the journey from start to finish.

We use simple yet effective approaches (including our PCP MOT for your change journey) that has worked well and can also help us identify those skill gaps, training needs, core functions required (i.e. training, communication, etc) and any cultural challenges that could unpick all that good work. According to  Kanter, Stein, and Jick (1992), managing change has become the ultimate managerial responsibility as organisations continuously engage in some form of change. Consequently, “sense making” becomes very important for management to achieve engagement and with it effective and lasting change.

We have been working hard with our clients to ensure their foundations are solid before helping develop and deliver any improvements, incremental or transformational change.

The PCP 4 point MOT:

1- Clear Goals- Our PCP workshops aim to firstly establish a coherent strategy exists that is clear and understood across the business.

A clear set of objectives has overall alignment and understanding from top to bottom.

2- Solid Foundations- We need to then understand the relevant capabilities and skills exist in order to function core processes.

Without a minimum level of capability to run processes it can be difficult and potentially counter productive to start a period of change without it.

3- Core Controls- We consider and review the governance framework and delivery environment to ensure it is fit for purpose.

We wont be pushing you down a prescribed Prince II, Lean or Agile route but it is vital to have some minimum controls to ensure you can track and monitor progress, identify and mitigate risk and ensure overall control of delivery.

4- Your People- Once we have the fundamentals checked off, we check your people are all engaged and bought in then we are ready to move on……

“Sense making” becomes very important in order to manage change successfully, which in turn makes employee engagement in the change effort vital as it leads to the necessary “sense making”.

Once we have these minimum steps in order we can start to work together to put the building blocks in place to work towards achieving your business goals. We do this as timely as the environment will allow as after all “you are only ever as quick as the slowest person”.

Change management is a journey and adapting, assessing and evolving along the way is critical to success.

We have found these simple steps fully scaleable from those larger corporate organisations looking for a health check to smaller businesses embarking on smaller scale change initiatives but wanting some guidance to get started on the right track.
